Vineyard

This vineyard  was planted using multiple clones including MV6, G5V15, D2V5 and more. It’s a natural amphitheatre facing north- west. Halarah is a high altitude (180m) ultra- cool site in Main Ridge. Flowering was affected by the cold and windy spring of 2021, resulting in a yield of less than one ton per acre. These low yields can be beneficial to the power of the wine but must be managed in the vineyard. Throughout the season there was a heavy program of shoot and leaf removal to prevent herbaceous character.

Main Ridge sub region can pose challenges to the structure of wine. We think small yields the clonal mix, extended time on skins and in barrel have created this powerful wine with lush cherry aroma. It’s a different style to Balnarring sub region. Its very fine and elegant with quiet power
