Viticulture is at the heart of Quealy Winemakers, relentlessly working vineyards we ordained as superior sites. The warmest sites chosen in the coolest region of intimate valleys and microclimates governed by the sea. The Mornington Peninsula has rightfully gained the preeminent reputation in Australia for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. And there is more to discover by fitting the grape variety to each microsite.

With our decades of experience and observation, we have developed individualised response to each vineyard; illuminating the soil, slope and sunshine. Loyal through seasonal vicissitudes, we wholly believe in every moment and aspect; fertilizing, manual pruning, tending the canopy and hand harvest. Every bunch transitions seamlessly and discreetly from vineyard to winery.

New Single Site Wine

Pinot Noir

Musk Creek Pinot Noir 2024

Musk Creek Vineyard creates Pinot Noir of ethereal perfume and enthralling profundity. Planted by us in 1997, Quealy Winemakers continue to invest in a vineyard of sublime potential. Through careful canopy management and low impact traditional winemaking methods, Musk Creek Pinot Noir emerges generous, gentle & seriously elegant. An exquisite wine.

Campbell & Christine Pinot Noir 2024

A vineyard we have managed since establishment in the mid 90’s. Campbell & Chrstine Pinot Noir is from a low altitude warm site that we think has taken time for us to understand. There are three clones and two soil zones to contend within the block. It’s an outstanding north-facing site of alluvial clay and red soils washed down from Red Hill. The larger size of the vineyard allows us to employ various winemaking techniques that ultimately make this wine very special.

Like all Quealy Pinot Noir, Campbell & Christine is dry grown, restricting yield and forcing vine roots downwards to create powerful and serious Pinot Noir.

Halarah Pinot Noir 2023

Halarah is a different beast. Positioned at a high altitude, it is always a triumphant challenge to bring about a successful harvest.

Established by John and Kelly B in the mid 90’s. They reached out to us for guidance before planting Pinot Gris and (at the time), our preferred clone of Pinot Noir, alongside clones recommended by contemporaneous consultants. As time lengthens, clones exert a diminishing influence and as the roots dig deeper into these volcanic soils, the wine has profound bearing and a perfume that is superbly Pinot Noir.

RAGEOUS 2024: Sangiovese | Shiraz | Pinot Noir

The poetry on the label; In the land of mules there are no rules; penned by Ogden Nash. RAGEOUS began as an alternative application for regional hero Pinot Noir, inspired by the illustrious Super Tuscan blends of Bolgheri and has matured into one of our most cherished wines. An encapsulation of contrast and cohesion. Half and half donkey and horse, in no way a hybrid but a spirited beast that cares naught for people opinion. RAGEOUS is a mule who lived in our paddock with his friend Memphis.

Amphora

TURBUL Friulano 2023

TURBUL Friulano; the birth of Tom McCarthy’s vigneron legacy. Indigenous to Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy’s north-east, Quealy Winemakers were first to plant & champion Friulano in Australia. A heartfelt homage to Slovenian natural winemaking; the wine emerges expressive, luscious & succulent through extended maceration on skins in traditional terracotta amphora. Each sip blossoms across the palate with sleek silkiness and lemony acid.

“...by all criteria a ‘natural’ wine – but a wine that has always ticked the quality boxes.” Huon Hooke, The Real Review
